Two days of instruction without any tests. This is a great first introduction to riding. It focuses on re-learning the fundamental components of a bicycle and slow exercises for controlling.
Compulsory Basic Training (CBT)
CBT is a must-attend course for all novice riders. It typically takes a full day to complete. If you reach an acceptable level at the end of the course, your instructor will award you an DL196 certificate of the course's completion.
During this course, you will learn to operate a motorcycle. You will be supervised throughout the course by a knowledgeable instructor. You'll also receive a short theory session which will teach you about the code of conduct and road rules and safe position of the lane. You'll learn how to check and maintain your bike, as well as how to carry a pillion rider (if appropriate).
The next part of the CBT is a practical on-site riding. Your instructor will mark an area of safety where you can practice your skills. You will start off slowly and work on basic safety checks before moving on and stopping the bike and stopping properly. Your instructor will be in radio contact with you throughout this time and will be there to assist you until they feel confident that you can perform the exercises at a safe level.
In this section of the course you'll be introduced to different types of roads and traffic conditions. You'll learn how to safely navigate roundabouts and traffic lights and also how to use one-way streets. Additionally, you'll be taught the basics of cornering and how to carry out the figure of 8 and emergency stop.
This is the last part of the CBT, and your instructor will take you on a variety of different routes. You will be in constant contact with your instructor who will monitor your progress. If you're able to prove your ability to drive a motorcycle in traffic and cope with diverse road conditions, you'll be awarded an CBT DL196 certificate.

A1 licences also permit you to ride with a companion and you don't need to go through the CBT every two years. This is a fantastic alternative for those who want to share the excitement of motorcycling. The next step after an A1 license is the unrestricted A licence, which requires a valid driver's license.

The Mod 2 test is a test of riding skills that includes approximately 10 minutes of uninvolved riding. During this, the examiner will be following you along a predetermined route that will vary based on road and traffic conditions. The route will be crowded with junctions, roundabouts and dual carriageways and you'll need to be able to travel in various conditions.
In addition to driving on busy roads in addition, the Module 2 test will assess your ability to observe and anticipate. This is vital as it allows you to make quick decisions when driving on the road. You will need to be able to respond quickly if, for instance you are driving along the road and you see cars moving towards you.
